Realise launches new specialisms for care workers

Realise

As the health and social care sector continues to evolve and become more diverse, demanding and challenging care settings need training which suits their changing needs.

New specialisms

To keep up with the growing needs of the care sector, Realise is now offering course participants the opportunity to choose a specialism whilst completing their apprenticeship or diploma course. This means participants can develop in-depth knowledge of a particular topic giving them the opportunity to take on more responsibility or a leadership role when taking care of residents with certain difficulties.

Additionally, by giving the participants the choice of specialisms, the course and learning can be better tailored to the setting as the learning will be more focused on an area that benefits the employer.

The areas covered:

The specialisms are available on our level 2-5 apprenticeship courses and our level 2 and 3 diploma only courses. The topics covered include:

  • Dementia care – Learners will develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours when delivering all aspects of safe and compassionate dementia care.
  • Elderly residential services – Participants will advance their ability to deliver good quality and empathetic care to the elderly within residential care settings.
  • Learning disabilities – Participants’ will expand on their knowledge of adult learning disabilities and autistic spectrum conditions.
  • Mental health services – This specialism will develop learners’ ability to work with those who are seeking or require mental health support.
  • Treatment and recovery services – Participants will be equipped with the expertise to provide compassionate care to individuals seeking help for addiction or mental health issues.
  • Community care services -This will strengthen learners’ understanding of how to support individuals to experience a rich and fulfilled life whilst living at home.

Investing in these programs demonstrates a commitment to employees’ professional growth

Lesley O’Connor, Head of health and social care

Lesley O’Connor, Head of health and social care commented on the specialisms, saying:

We have developed our specialist areas to support staff employed in these sub-sectors. These courses provide the learner with practical skills, career progression, competitiveness, and confidence.

However, by giving our participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge of a certain topic, the employer will have a team member who is specialised in a field which can help the organisation and their residents to thrive. Investing in these programs demonstrates a commitment to employees’ professional growth and contributes to the long-term success of both individuals and organisations.
